Since the people
in Nicaragua are so poor, most people have no shoes
or have poorly worn shoes. Part of our ministry this
summer was to provide a few thousand shoes to help
solve this problem. We collected shoes in Frisco,
Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah. After sorting the
shoes by age, gender and size, we shipped the shoes
via a container to Managua, Nicaragua.
In the mission
field, after each person completes the medical phase
of our ministry, they are sent to our area where we
measure their foot and select a pair of shoes for
them. It is so amazing to think that a used pair of
shoes in our closets could provide so much pleasure
for these people. While we know that the Nicaragua
people get a lot of pleasure from the shoes, it
doesn't compare to the great feeling that we receive
in knowing that we are expanding God's kingdom one
foot at a time.
