<<>> March 26, 2008 Dear Family and Friends: I have recently been asked to join a team of people that will be performing a week long mission trip to Honduras. The team will be composed of people who have different skills and gifts. There are two trips being organized this year and on one trip will be providing medical and dental services, while the other trip will be focused on the youth of Honduras by providing Vacation Bible School and Sports Camps during the week. On both trips we will be helping to construct a fence that will surround Promise Home, which is the orphanage that is being built by North Texas Missions, Inc. The trip that I am serving on will be {conducting Vacation Bible School and Sports Camps to the youth......OR providing medical and dental services to the village} Our group is sponsored by North Texas Missions (NTM) - which is a non-profit, 501(c)3, Christian organization from Frisco, Texas. North Texas Missions has been leading mission trips to Central America since 2005 and in 2006 embarked on the mission to build Promise Home in Honduras. While on the trip, we will be staying at a local orphanage that will be providing our "base camp". Each day we will go out to our village, which is about an hour away from base camp. There we will take over the local school and establish our missionary camp. INSERT TEAM DETAILS VBS TEAM DETAILS: We will be conducting a full Vacation Bible School during the morning hours and then we will be conducting soccer Sports Camp in the afternoon. We will also be going into the village and distributing rice and beans as a way of showing our support for the community and looking for opportunities to share God's love. MED/DENTAL TEAM DETAILS We will have a dental clinic staffed by 2-3 dentists. We will also have a medical clinic with about seven doctors and nurses. NTM brings an entire pharmacy with them so that no matter what the medical or dental physicians prescribe, the people will be able to get their medicines free! The true purpose of this trip is to meet the community's physical needs and spiritual needs by sharing the Gospel of our Lord. Through the Vacation Bible School, sports camps and evangelism teams we will be providing short messages to everyone about how the Lord loves each one of us. Now, the reason for my letter is that I need two things from you. First and foremost I need your PRAYERS. It's through the power of prayer that my trip will be safe and successful. In addition to prayers, I am asking those that are able, to support my trip financially. The cost of the trip is $1,200. I have saved some of the money for this trip - but I've been told that even if I can afford the entire amount, I should still ask for help. The reason is because not everyone is a missionary - but some would like to help in what I am doing by giving. Any donation that you can give will be greatly appreciated and is tax deductible. Since you will be sending it directly to NTM, I will not know how much - if any, that you give and that does not t really doesn't matter, your prayers are much more important.
